Why We Are Here
Skin Care By Design MediSpa was founded on the belief that men and women seeking great skin should not have to sacrifice quality for price. All of our service providers are Registered Nurses because we believe that Registered Nurses combine a legendary caregiving concern with the medical expertise necessary for truly effective skin care services and advice.
Our front desk and office staff are required to learn the details of the products and services we provide so they can meaningfully assist our clients and not just make appointments.
We emphasize education and honesty over sales pitches because people recognize great service and fair prices when they receive them. Those customers will return with their friends and family and help our company grow. Check the Our Philosophy page for more information.
Company Information
- Skin Care By Design, LLC was founded in 2004 and is owned by a Tucson Registered Nurse. Our Medical Director is a Tucson physician who approves policies and procedures, reviews charts, and advises our company.
- Our normal hours are Tuesday - Friday 9am - 6:30pm and Saturday 9am - 2:30pm. As business volume grows, we anticipate opening on Monday and extending our hours to open earlier and close later.
Benefits
- We offer both full time and part time positions with flexible hours and job sharing.
- All of our employees receive free services and we encourage them to experience a variety of services. This gives them a better perspective and they can advise our clients of exactly what to expect from a procedure. For some services that involve a large company product cost (e.g., Botox, dermal fillers, etc), employees will pay for the product portion of the service.
- Employees receive a discount on skin care products for their own use.
- Full time employees receive two weeks Paid Time Off (PTO) and this increases after five years. Eligible part time employees receive an equivalent amount of PTO according to the number of hours worked.
- Non-exempt employees who work more than eight hours in a day, more than 40 hours in a week, or on a company holiday will be paid overtime (time and one-half) for those hours. Company holidays are New Years Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day.
- Skin Care By Design does not currently offer health insurance or 401K benefits because our company is not large enough to obtain reasonable rates. As we increase in size, we anticipate adding these benefits.
Positions
Service Provider: (Not currently hiring) We hire only Registered Nurses as service providers in both full time and part time positions. Experience or training in the fields of skin care, dermatology, or plastic surgery is required. Certification as an Arizona Medical Laser Technician is preferred but not required. You will become proficient in most or all of the procedures listed below and must pass in-house proficiency exams before performing treatments for clients:
- Laser and RF procedures for hair removal, skin tightening, minimally ablative skin resurfacing (Pixel and eMatrix), brown spot removal, and spider vein management. We currently use the Candela GentleLASE Plus, the Candela GentleYAG, the Alma Harmony High Power Pixel 2940, and the Syneron eMatrix.
- IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) procedures for photorejuvenation, acne care, Rosacea, and spider vein management. We currently use the Alma Harmony XL and the Active Crystal 512 IPL systems.
- Superficial and mid-level chemical and enzyme peels, including the Melanage Depigmenting Peel and Actinage Acne Peel.
- Botox and Dysport injections for facial wrinkles and Botox injections for underarm hyperhidrosis. We emphasize client comfort and expect our nurses to learn and use the most comfortable injection techniques.
- Dermal fillers for facial wrinkles and lip enhancement. We currently feature Juvéderm Ultra Plus XC, Radiesse, and Restylane-L fillers.
- Microdermabrasions using the Vibraderm or a smaller, diamond head microdermabrador.
- The SkinCeuticals MicroPeel. This involves dermaplaning so a precise technique is essential.
- Skin growth removal for skin tags, warts, moles, sebaceous hyperplasia, seborrheic keratoses, and cherry angiomas. We currently use a superfrecator (electrocautery), laser, or scalpel to remove these growths.
- VelaShape body sculpting treatments for cellulite reduction. We currently use the Syneron VelaShape II for body sculpting.
- A supervised HCG (human chorionic gonadotropin) Diet.
- Skin Cancer Screenings involving a full body examination and both photographic and clinical documentation.
Familiarity with skin care and surgical treatments outside our scope of practice is encouraged to allow you to discuss client questions and make appropriate recommendations regardless of the products and services we offer. You must conduct an informed consent process when any client receives a treatment for the first time and charting is required for all treatments.
Product and ingredient knowledge must be developed. Rather than carrying one or two full product lines, we attempt to carry the best of the best. As a result we carry products from La Roche-Posay, Obagi, Jan Marini, Allergan, SkinCeuticals, Nia24, and a number of specialty products. We expect our nurses to advise clients about how the active ingredients work, which active ingredients are appropriate for their needs, and the characteristics of the products we carry.
Personality is extremely important because you are not assisting a doctor - you are the primary caregiver. People are trusting you with their skin and need to know that you are both capable and caring.
