What is a consultation?

A consultation is a 30-minute appointment with a Registered Nurse to discuss any skin care issues of interest to you. Issues range from the best skin care options for your unique skin within a specified budget to the details of a particular treatment to education about skin conditions.

How much does it cost?

$35. However, if you choose a service from Skin Care By Design that would have supplied you with the information provided in the consultation, we normally credit the consultation fee towards the service. For example, if you consult with us about the risks and benefits of Laser Hair Removal, that information is part of the normal informed consent process. If you undergo the procedure after the consultation, the service fee will be reduced by $35. If most of the consultation was devoted to topics other than Laser Hair Removal, the consultation may be considered a separate service.

Why is there a charge for a consultation?

"Free" consultations are frequently nothing more than an excuse for giving you a sales pitch where your desires or the unique needs of your skin are secondary to what is being sold. A true consultation should provide you with the information you need (even if that information is to recommend a service we do not provide) and allow time for questions and education. Our nurses are top notch educators who will take the time necessary to answer all of your questions and recommend a variety of options to meet your needs. Complete, unbiased information is worth the cost.

If we cannot provide you with the information you need, there is no charge for the consultation. For services outside the scope of our practice (e.g., plastic surgery, disease diagnosis, etc.) or services that we do not perform, we can usually refer you to several physicians, practices, or other businesses that can serve your needs.
