Specialty Peels

Woman with chemical masque

Specialty peels include chemical or enzyme peels formulated to correct specific skin conditions such as melasma, uneven pigmentation, and acne.

Chemical and enzyme peels use topically applied solutions that rejuvenate the skin's surface by creating an even and controlled shedding of several layers of skin cells. This exposes new, undamaged layers that are softer and smoother with more even skin tones. Chemical and enzyme peels also stimulate the dermis to create new skin cells, collagen, and elastin, which support and tighten the surface of your skin. Specific chemicals, enzymes, and solution strengths may be particularly effective for different skin conditions such as wrinkles, acne, dry skin, or sensitive skin.

We offer a variety of specialty peels described below.

Vi Precision Peel

What is a Vi Precision Peel?

The Vi Precision Peel is guaranteed to be finest peel you have ever experienced! The unique blend of ingredients produces powerful results with no pain, no skin preparation, and very little downtime. It is 25% stronger than the ordinary Vi Peel. The Vi Precision Peel will:

The treatment includes home products and an Omega Peel seven to ten days after the Vi Peel application to eliminate any traces of flaking and give your skin that polished, professional look. Why wait weeks or months for results when you can enjoy beautiful, radiant skin in about a week?

Obsolete peels of the past, without exception, epitomize the "no pain, no gain" approach to skin care. Before the Vi Precision Peel, the deeper the peel, the more painful it was, the more downtime you experienced, but the better the results were. The Vi Precision Peel is the first Next Generation Aesthetic. It is painless, yet produces dramatic visible results in just days with little downtime.

How does the Vi Precision Peel work?

The Vi Precision Peel consists of a synergistic blend of five acids that no other peel offers:

The peel is applied to the face and neck. During the application of the peel, you may feel a tingling or slight stinging sensation that lasts for about five seconds. The peel numbs the skin on the first pass and very cold air is directed at the treatment site for additional comfort. When the peel is complete, the treated area is cleansed and soothing, protective products are applied.

The skin will appear slightly tan or red immediately after the peel. On the first and second days, the skin may feel slightly tight and any pigmented areas might appear slightly darker. Around the third day, you should begin to peel. The first signs of peeling usually begin around the mouth but the entire treated area will quickly follow. With the use of the included Vi Derm moisturizer, clients can maintain their usual daily routine. By the sixth or seventh day, the peeling should be complete and the results are dramatic! An Omega Peel (included in the Vi Peel) provides the final, perfecting touch.

What are the benefits?

The Vi Precision Peel corrects skin problems at the cellular level rather than just burning off the skin. The combined actions of its many acids and vitamins help erase fine lines and wrinkles, remove actinic keratoses, shrink enlarged pores, and build collagen and elastin to tighten skin. It is extremely effective in eliminating hyperpigmentation, including melasma, and provides excellent results for patients with acne.

How many treatments do you need?

The number of treatments depends on the severity of the conditions you wish to correct and the amount of correction desired. A single Vi Precision Peel behaves like a superficial peel in relation to pain and downtime, but yields results equal to a medium depth peel. Three Vi Precision Peels, two to four weeks apart, will produce results comparable to procedures like the Obagi Blue peel without the pain, extensive downtime, and cost associated with those peels.

Things you should know.

You should be prepared to peel extensively for two to three days. The Vi Precision Peel has no downtime for healing but the peeling will be much more extensive than ordinary chemical peels. The amount of peeling varies between individuals. Clients who use RetinA tend to see much more flaking while clients who regularly exfoliate may experience only modest flaking. The moisturizer included with the peel will hide most of the effects but we recommend scheduling this peel at least ten days prior to any social events that would be impacted by flaking and peeling skin.

This treatment should not be performed if you have taken Accutane within the past twelve months or if you are sensitive or allergic to aspirin. You should avoid the use of RetinA, Renova, or glycolic acids within one day before or after the treatment.

How much time is required?

The initial application requires 60 minutes. A 30 minute followup appointment for the Omega Peel will be scheduled for seven to ten days after the initial application.

How much does it cost?

$250 includes the Vi Precision Peel, home products, and the followup Omega Peel.

The Vi Precision Plus Peel will:

The treatment includes home products and an Omega Peel seven to fourteen days after the Vi Precision Plus Peel application to eliminate any traces of flaking and give your skin that polished, professional look. Why wait weeks or months for results when you can enjoy beautiful, radiant skin in about a week?

Like the Vi Precision Peel, the Vi Precision Plus Peel produces dramatic visible results in just days with no pain and very little downtime.

How does the Vi Precision Plus Peel work?

The Vi Precision Plus Peel consists of a synergistic blend of eight ingredients that no other peel offers:

The peel solution is applied to the face and neck. During the application, you may feel a tingling or slight stinging sensation that lasts for about five seconds. Around the third day, you should begin to peel. The first signs of peeling usually begin around the mouth but the entire treated area will quickly follow. With the use of the included Vi Derm moisturizer, clients can maintain their usual daily routine. By the ninth or tenth day, the peeling should be complete and the results are dramatic! An Omega Peel (included in the Vi Peel) provides the final, perfecting touch.

What are the benefits?

The Vi Precision Plus Peel corrects skin problems at the cellular level rather than just burning off the skin. The combined actions of its many acids and vitamins help erase fine lines and wrinkles, shrink enlarged pores, and build collagen and elastin to tighten skin. It's additional ingredients make it the best possible peel for hyperpigmentation, including stubborn melasma that has resisted other treatments. It provides excellent results for patients with acne.

How many treatments do you need?

The number of treatments depends on the severity of the conditions you wish to correct and the amount of correction desired. A single Vi Precision Plus Peel produces results equal or superior to a medium depth peel. Three Vi Precision Plus Peels, four weeks apart, will produce results comparable to procedures like the Obagi Blue peel without the pain, extensive downtime, and cost associated with those peels.

Things you should know.

You should be prepared to peel extensively for three to five days. The Vi Precision Plus Peel has no downtime for healing but the peeling will be much more extensive than ordinary chemical peels. The peel reveals new skin that is more sensitive to sunburn and this sensitivity is increased by the hydroquinone in the peel. You must protect the treated areas with sunscreen (even below clothing) and by avoiding exposure to the sun for at least fourteen days after the initial application of the peel.

How much time is required?

The initial application requires 60 minutes. A 30 minute followup appointment for the Omega Peel will be scheduled seven to fourteen days after the initial application.

How much does it cost?

$350 includes the Vi Precision Plus Peel, home products, and the followup Omega Peel.

Vi Acne Peel

What is the Vi Acne Peel?

The Vi Acne Peel is the most effective acne treatment available today! It will:

The treatment includes home products and an Omega Peel seven to ten days after the Vi Acne Peel application to eliminate any traces of flaking and give your skin that polished, professional look.

How does the Vi Acne Peel work?

The Vi Acne Peel consists of a synergistic blend of eight ingredients that no other acne peel offers:

What are the benefits?

The Vi Acne Peel kills acne bacteria, removes the rough skin around pimples, and completely cleanses the pores to relieve active acne breakouts. The home care products speed healing and help prevent new acne breakouts. The acids reduce existing acne scars and fine lines, improve skin tone and texture, and diminish uneven pigmentation.

How many treatments do you need?

The number of treatments depends on the severity of the acne condition. A single Vi Acne Peel will clear most mild to moderate acne. Three Vi Acne Peels, two to four weeks apart, may be required for severe outbreaks or resistant cases.

Things you should know.

You should be prepared to peel extensively for two to three days. The Vi Acne Peel has no downtime for healing but the peeling will be more extensive than ordinary chemical peels.

The home care kit consists of a 1 ounce SPF 55 sunblock, a 1 ounce post peel protectant with 1% hydrocortisone, and two post peel pads with retinoic acid, vitamin C, benzoyl peroxide, kojic acid, and hydrocortisone

Acne is unpredictable and one of the toughest skin conditions to treat. Because there are so many variables related to acne (bacteria levels, hormone fluctuations, whether your skin is dry or oily, stress, medications, etc), there are no guarantees that this or any other acne treatment can completely or permanently stop the production of blemishes. However, scheduling maintenance treatments, using the correct acne products, and following the recommendations of your skin care nurse should produce a significant reduction in blemishes, inflammatory pigmentations, and oil production.

How much time is required?

The initial application requires 60 minutes. A 30 minute followup appointment for the Omega Peel will be scheduled for seven to ten days after the initial application.

How much does it cost?

$250 includes the Vi Acne Peel, home products, and the followup Omega Peel.

Actinage Skin Clarifying System for Acne

What is the Actinage Skin Clarifying System for Acne?

The Actinage Skin Clarifying System for Acne is an amazing new facial peel that is extremely effective for people with oily and acne prone skin. Salicylic, mandelic, and azelaic acids are combined with retinol to revolutionize how the acne is treated. It kills acne bacteria and provides anti-aging properties all at the same time.

How does it work?

The Actinage Skin Clarifying System for Acne consists of two phases:

Phase One: Application of the Actinage solution at our office.
In the office, we apply the Actinage solution to the face for 10 minutes. This solution is then removed with a pad that contains a strong Vitamin A solution. The Vitamin A solution must remain on the face for 2 to 3 hours, then you wash this solution off at home. The skin appears shiny and moist, but the solution is not otherwise noticeable when leaving the office.

Phase Two: At home maintenance.
Actinage Medicated Foaming Cleanser is used in the morning and at night during the first week after the peel. It includes salicylic acid to reduce oil production and fight acne bacteria.

Actinage Medicated Cleansing Pads are used in the morning and at night beginning the second week after the peel. The stronger salicylic acid formulation continues to reduce oil production and fight acne bacteria.

Actinage Nighttime Acne Gel contains salicylic acid to fight acne bacteria with skin repair and anti-inflammatory ingredients to speed the healing of acne blemishes.

Actinage Soothing Gel contains moisturizers for comfort with skin repair and anti-inflammatory ingredients to speed the healing of acne blemishes.

Actinage Oil-Free Facial SPF 30 Sunscreen has titanium and zinc oxides for maximum UV protection without contributing the oils that acne bacteria love.

What are the benefits?

The Actinage solution kills acne bacteria and completely cleanses the pores to relieve active acne breakouts while the home care products speed healing, reduce oil production, and help prevent new acne breakouts. The acids provide a light anti-aging peel that reduces fine lines, improves skin tone and texture, and diminishes uneven pigmentation.

How many treatments do you need?

If you follow the recommended home care protocol, a series of three treatments at 2 to 3 week intervals will bring all but the most severe acne conditions under control for most clients. Continued use of recommended home care products will reduce the likelihood and severity of additional breakouts.

Things you should know.

As this treatment attacks the conditions that allow acne to persist, most clients will experience a temporary acne breakout. After this initial purging, the skin will begin healing and the acne will clear dramatically.

Most clients experience some light flaking after this treatment, lasting for 3 to 5 days. A very small percentage of people will notice a slight redness that may persist for up to a week. Other than that, there is no downtime from this treatment. Makeup may be applied the day after the initial application and normal activity may resume. We recommend the use of mineral makeup.

It is imperative that the you follow the recommended home care protocol. The different products work together to control oil, clear the dirt and oily buildup in the pores, heal existing breakouts, and control future breakouts. Another benefit from using the home care products is the reduction of post inflammatory pigmentation, which is often associated with moderate to severe acne conditions.

However, with continued use of the maintenance products and by following the regular facial treatment recommendations of your skin care nurse, you should experience a significant reduction in blemishes, inflammatory pigmentations, and oil production.

How much time is required?

The in-office application requires 30 to 60 minutes but the Vitamin A solution must remain in place for 2 to 3 hours after application. The home care products become part of your normal morning and evening skin care regimen.

How much does it cost?

$200. This includes the in-office application and all home products.

Melanage Depigmenting MiniPeel

What is the Melanage Depigmenting MiniPeel?

The Melanage Depigmenting MiniPeel is a hydroquinone and retinoid masque designed to correct uneven pigmentation caused by melasma, extensive sun damage, freckling, or other factors. The initial masque is applied at our office and the home care products included in the peel are applied for one week to complete the peel and lighten the skin. One peel includes enough products to treat the full face OR the neck and chest.

How does it work?

Tyrosinase is an enzyme used by the body to create melanin, the pigment that causes melasma and uneven skin tones. Medications in the Melanage masque block this enzyme to reduce the excess production of melanin. These medications remain in your skin for 4 to 6 weeks but must be reactivated every day for the first week. The treatment process consists of three phases that gradually reduce the appearance of dark spots and discolorations. Your skin care nurse will provide you with written information detailing all timelines and instructions.

Step One: Application of the Melanage depigmenting masque at our office.
A uniform layer of the Melanage masque is applied by your skin care nurse. No discomfort is experienced and clients describe the procedure as soothing and relaxing. The Melanage masque combines active ingredients to gently peel away the top layers of skin, revealing skin that is more evenly pigmented. After the masque is applied in our office, it must remain in place for 4 hours. Clients leave the office with the masque on their face so you should be prepared for some social downtime. You remove the masque at home using the Anti-redness Foaming Cleanser provided with your home care product kit.

Step Two: Daily application of Melanage 2 and other home care products.
Melanage 2 maintenance cream reactivates the medications in the Melanage masque to steadily improve your skin tone and maintain the results you have already achieved. Melanage 2 also contains melanocyte inhibitors to reduce the formation of new pigment producing cells and bleaching agents to further lighten the pigmented areas of skin. The other home care products (Intensive Barrier Repair Moisturizer, Anti-redness Soothing Balm, Anti-redness Foaming Cleanser, Anti-oxidant SPF30 Soothing Balm Sunscreen) help to moisturize and protect the treated area. The Melanage 2 must be applied daily and normally lasts one week.

Your skin may have a light yellow tinge immediately after removal of the masque. This is temporary and will fade in a few hours. Following the in-office treatment, your skin may appear slightly pink for 3 to 5 days and will begin to flake. The amount of flaking varies between individuals but generally lasts for 3 to 5 days. After the flaking stops, the treated skin will appear more luminous, and dark spots will begin to fade. As the Melanage 2 applications continue, spots will appear lighter and lighter.

Step Three: Followup
Before the initial masque is applied, we will schedule a followup appointment with you for one week after the peel begins. On the followup appointment, you and your skin care nurse will evaluate the results to determine if a longer course of Melanage 2 cream is needed.

What are the expected results?

Results will vary but most clients will see significant improvement in the appearance of unevenly pigmented areas. Dark spots will lighten and both skin texture and tone will improve. Most clients will experience flaking but this does not occur for everyone. Even without flaking, the peel will correct uneven pigmentation, stimulate collagen production, improve skin tone and texture, and diminish fine lines. Proper skin evaluation by your skin care nurse prior to the peel is important and will help predict the outcome of your peel.

How many treatments do you need?

A single Melanage Depigmenting MiniPeel should resolve superficial pigmentation issues for most people. If moderate to severe pigmentation problems exist, a series of 2 to 4 Melanage Depigmenting MiniPeels at 3 to 4 week intervals may produce the desired results (your skin care nurse can advise you of the best course of action after examining you). The conditions that created the pigmentation problem should be addressed to prevent recurrences. The most obvious change is to reduce sun exposure and always, always wear UVA/UVB protection with a minimum of 30 SPF.

Things you should know.

Slight redness, irritation, and flaking are normal effects of this treatment.

How much time is required?

The application of the masque requires about 30 to 60 minutes but the masque must remain in place for 4 hours after application. The masque resembles a yellow mud pack so you should consider the entire time as social downtime. The home care products become part of your normal morning and evening skin care regimen.

How much does it cost?

$300. This includes the initial peel, one week of home care products, and the followup appointment.

Sexy Back Peel

What is a Sexy Back peel?

When you show your back to the world, shouldn't it be soft, smooth, and perfect? The Sexy Back peel gives your back and shoulders the same benefits that our chemical peels provide for your face while treating common skin problems on your back that your normal skin care regime cannot reach.

This luxurious treatment begins with a microdermabrasion to exfoliate the entire surface of your back and shoulders. This is followed by a brown sugar scrub to soften and polish your skin. Pimple extractions remove those unsightly blemishes you can't reach, then your choice of a mud masque or light acid peel provides smooth skin texture and reduces uneven pigmentation. A blend of vitamins, moisturizers, and sun protection customized to your skin completes the treatment.

How does it work?

Your back and shoulders are difficult to reach and usually don't receive the same level of cleansing, sun protection, and skin care that you provide for your face and neck. The onset of warmer weather, more comfortable clothing, and bathing suits may expose these areas to more sun and abuse than they are used to. The combination of treatments in the Sexy Back peel exfoliate, polish, and soften your skin while blending those areas of uneven coloration. Removing pimples and applying products to soothe, nourish, and protect your skin helps you look your best in any wardrobe selection.

What are the benefits?

Softer, smoother skin with more even tones and no blackheads. There is no better treatment to keep your back and shoulders looking great.

How many treatments do you need?

This varies depending on the amount of skin damage you have on your back and shoulders. A single treatment provides improvements you can see and feel. Maintenance treatments to keep your back and shoulders looking their best should occur at four to six week intervals, especially during warmer weather.

Things you should know.

There is no downtime but your back may appear flushed for 15-30 minutes after the treatment. You should avoid the use of RetinA, Renova, or glycolic acids on your back and shoulders within one day before or after the treatment.

How much time is required?

30 minutes.

How much does it cost?

$99
